Cricket legend Michael Kasprowicz caught and released his first Blue Marlin last Sunday on Cabolito! He was celebrating his birthday with his brothers and mates including fellow cricket legend Andy Bichel as guests of the Cabolito owners. The estimated 300lbs Blue was caught in 280 metres of water approximately 27nm east of Moreton Island. After a solid 45 minute battle crewman Tom Reardon wired the fish alongside removing the hooks for a perfect release. The area we were fishing was alive with baitfish and only minutes before we hooked up I drove through an oily patch on the waters surface indicating something had recently fed there – you could smell the marlin!
