Recently I recieved a call from my old man. He said a lovely girl, Iona, who had cooked for him many years ago aboard his boat, the South Pacific II, was on her way north with her husband Jeremy and their three little girls on their new sailing cat, the Nalukai. They were on an adventure of a lifetime but had a list of jobs a mile long and could I help them?
The problem cruising yachties have when they arrive at a new port, is sourcing the right people for the jobs. Jeremy had a dozen horror stories since leaving Victoria of poor workmanship, overcharging and trades people just not even bothering to turn up! The advantage of appointing Professional Boat Care to manage the process is we have sourced the best local trades people in all fields from diesel mechanics, electricians, trimmers, painters, you name it – we can arrange it!
After a busy week installing new solar panels, nav gear, new awnings, mechanical repairs and even a new second anchor they were again on there way north.
Jeremy has a farming background so he is a capable hands on guy and by all accounts, Iona is sensational in the galley so life aboard the Nalukai for the next couple of years should be one happy advenure for all of them. The current plan is to make their way north and join the organised Rally from Cairns out to the Louisiades off PNG in September.
Professional Boat Care wishes them a safe a wonderful cruise and for those interested, they have an excellent blog to follow their progress. http://levosafloat.wordpress.com/
