Peter Jenyns has literally been fishing all his life, both recreationally and as a charter boat captain and now offers a sportfishing guide service. He can also fitout your sportfishing boat. His experience and professionalism is well respected within the sportfishing community and he has numerous Billfish tournament wins to his credit spanning decades both as an angler and captain. Spend a day with Peter onboard and get the most out of your fishing.
Peter comes from a long line of fisherman. His great-grandfather was fishing Moreton Bay back when St Helena Island was still a Penal Colony. Then there were his grandfathers, the renowned political cartoonist Ian Gall and Herbert Jenyns, both avid anglers. Ian also published 'Fishing for the fun of it' and 'Going bush with Ian Gall'. Even Peter's mother has fished all her life!
However, it is Peter's father Ron who has been his greatest influence. Ron forged a reputation as one of Queensland’s most noted fisherman holding numerous World and Australian records and is one of only a handful of pioneering captains who opened up the Cairns giant Black Marlin fishery. Ron has fished the Ribbon Reefs between Cairns and Lizard Island for over 45 consecutive years often with Peter skippering or working the deck. However many more know Ron as the noted yachtsman, having won 10 consecutive Australian Championships and representing Australia at 3 Olympic Games sailing in the Finn Class.
Peter wasn't the only child to receive a healthy dose of salt water in his veins! Peter's younger sister Sally went on to become a successful TV seafood chef and younger (half) brother Bo, now based in Florida, was recognised as ‘Top Mate of the year' 2008 by the prestigious US sportfishing magazine Marlin.
