Hobart’s Wooden Boat Festival held every second year around Constitution Dock has become a ‘must see’ event for any serious wooden boat enthusiast. Held last weekend, the event attracts a huge following from Brisbane’s wooden boat community. It has a very different feel to your normal boat show as the boats are there for our viewing pleasure, not for sale. Spending 3 days wandering the docks was such a pleasure, but it isn’t all about the boats. The social aspect is also a highlight, with so many great restaurants within walking distance. For those really looking to discuss the finer points of wooden boat building, an afternoon session at the Shipwright Arms is a tradion not to be missed! I have made a short video of the event.
