RQYS Opening Day photos

15/09/2012 By Professional Boat Care

My daughter Josephine holding RQYS member Matt Belcher's 2012 Olympic Gold Medal

The 2012 RQYS sailing season was officially opened by the Govenor of Queensland, Ms Penelope Wensley.

It is always a wonderful spectacle of ‘dressed’ vessels and pomp and ceremony. For this years’ Opening Day I took my daughter Josephine along, and she was thrilled to meet Matt Belcher, our RQYS member and Gold medalist from London 2012. Holding a ‘real’ gold medal made her older brothers very jealous and she couldn’t wait to tell her triple Olympian yachtsman grandfather Ron!  For me the day has always been a special time to catch up with the elder members, the ‘old timers’ of my father’s generation,  who seem to enrich the the experience of being a member of such a great club with their beautiful boats and stories.

With my mother Trisha and step-father Spencer Anderson
