30th June 2011
On Thursday 30th June the entire bow section of the northern wreck finally lost its battle to the effects of rust and constant pounding of waves, from the recent westerlies, and toppled into the water.
It goes to show how dangerous these structures have become. As a young fella I used to climb all over them, but this practice should be avoided these days. The decks are paper thin in areas and when you see the weight in some of the cogs and machinery supported by rusted foundations, we will see more of this deterioration.
